PURPOSE OF POSITION
To perform routine laboratory analyses and prescribed quality control checks on work accepted by St John of God Pathology
¨ Safe Practice

¨ Perform maintenance of testing equipment
¨ Perform Quality Control checks
¨ Communicate information in relation to urgent requests

¨ Actively supports and participates in the Laboratory Accreditation Process.
¨ Adhere to requirements of the Practice’s policies and procedures relating to Occupational Safety and Health and Infection Control
¨ Wear Uniforms appropriate to the specific work area and Occupational Safety and Health requirements
¨ Attend relevant training sessions offered by the practice.
¨ Recognise the necessity to continually develop skills and acquire additional knowledge appropriate to the position.
¨ Achieve mandatory annual practice competencies and assume responsibility for record maintenance.
¨ Perform diagnostic tests and procedures as specified by the Scientist in Charge or Senior Scientist
¨ To participate as required in the general duty roster which may include a 7 day roster cycle, including weekend, after hours and public holiday duties
¨ To undertake specialised laboratory tests or work of a developmental nature in a subsection of the laboratory as directed by the Scientist in Charge or Senior Scientist
¨ To maintain reagents, chemicals and other supplies at designated levels as directed
¨ To assist in the instruction/training of other staff in the performance of tests or procedures
